Automatically Map Source and Target Mailboxes

Default Auto Mapping Feature:

EdbMails automatically maps Office 365 mailboxes by comparing the first and last names or the display names of user accounts on the source and destination servers.

Comparing of First and Last Names:

EdbMails compares the first name and last name on both source and destination servers, if they are closely matched then it maps the mailbox automatically.

Display Names:

It also verifies display names. When display names are identical, EdbMails matches the respective mailboxes automatically.

Near Matching Logic:

EdbMails provides you with near matching logic, to automatically map your Office 365 mailboxes, if there is a slight difference between source and target email. Like, when the source mail is abc@source.com and the target mail is abc123@target.com, EdbMails will recognize that both are related to each other and automatically map the mailboxes.

If there are no mailboxes in your target servers, EdbMails automatically creates mailboxes on your target Office 365 and assigns the license.

Manual Mailbox Mapping:

If the application is not supposed to automatically map the Office 365 mailboxes, then you can choose mailboxes on the users list and map it manually.

1. Click the target mailboxes column.

2. Click 'Select the Target Mailbox from existing list'.

   

3. Select the mailbox from the available list and click ‘Continue’.

   

Auto-Mapping Public Folders

Public folders can be automatically mapped between the source and target Office 365 server via the EdbMails auto mapping option. This feature is not related to the mailbox mapping pattern and works independently. For this option to function, Public Folders must exist in the target.

Mapping Shared Mailboxes

Shared mailbox mapping is the same as primary mailboxes. To map shared mailboxes, first create the shared mailboxes in the target Office 365 server.

Mapping Archive Mailboxes

EdbMails automates the mapping of archive mailboxes during migrations, simplifying the process. Prior to beginning, it's important to manually enable these archive mailboxes on your target server.

Customised Folder Mapping:

EdbMails provides customised folder mapping to target the Office 365 server. The purpose is to allow the user to manually map each source folder to the desired target folder for the migration.

Follow the steps as depicted below to view list of folders in the target mailbox and to map the required source mailbox folder to the target mailbox folder:

1. In the mapping window, click the dropdown icon and select 'Select the Target Mailbox from existing list'

   

2. Select the target mailbox and click the 'List Target Mailbox Folders' button

   

3. Select the target folder and click ‘OK’ to proceed to the next steps.

   

Conditional Mapping

EdbMails supports conditional folder mapping, where you can set up the exact target folder path to override the source folder path. Conditional folder mapping enables setting a destination folder path where the data can be migrated from the source folder. It can be applied to a specific or to all mailbox paths by selecting 'All'.

For example, if your source folder path is '/Inbox/Sent Items' and you are moving the 'Sent Items' folder directly under the mailbox, you can simply set up the target location as '/Sent Items’.

Follow the steps below to set the conditional mapping for your source and destination folders

1. Click the ‘Conditional mapping‘ button in the mapping window.

   

2. Enter the source and the target mailboxes folder paths and proceed.

   

3. You can specify the folder path for each individual mailbox.

   

4. You can add the folder path for multiple mailboxes in bulk using CSV and Browse.
